چکیده

Background and Aims: Multiple, nonpharmacological pharmacological measures have been used for attenuating stress response of intubation with variable results. N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors a role in nociception inflammation. NMDA are located peripheral the central nervous system. Magnesium is also receptor blocker. Aim Study: To evaluate effect nebulized magnesium sulfate on reduce induced tracheal Material Methods: Following institutional ethical committee approval written informed consent, prospective randomized double-blinded study was conducted 100 cases divided into two equal groups. Patients included were either gender belonging to American Society Anesthesiologists (ASA) status 1 or 2 undergoing elective surgery requiring intubation. will be recruited groups; Group A: receive 3 ml (240 mg) over 15 min. While group B: normal saline min, ending 5 min before induction anesthesia. SBP, DBP, HR, blood glucose level measured at following intervals; Baseline (before induction), after premedication (sedation), induction, ETT intubation, later, 6 later. Results: Preoperative nebulization has significant (p value Conclusion: significantly reduces

Effects of lidocaine and magnesium sulfate in attenuating hemodynamic response to tracheal intubation: single-center, prospective, double-blind, randomized study.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Hemodynamic response to airway stimuli is a common phenomenon and its management is important to reduce the systemic repercussions. The objective of this study is to compare the efficacy of intravenous magnesium sulfate versus lidocaine on this reflex hemodynamics after laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation. METHODS This single-center, prospective, double-blind, rando...

The Effect of Tracheal Intubation-Induced Autonomic Response on Photoplethysmography

Introduction. Intraoperative stress responses and postoperative pain can be monitored using photoplethysmography (PPG). PPG signal has two components, AC and DC. Effects of noxious stimuli-induced stress responses have not been studied on the DC component of PPG. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a known noxious stimulus (endotracheal intubation) on both the AC and DC compo...

A PROSPECTIVE, RANDOMIZED, CONTROLLED TRIAL OF HIGH AND LOW DOSES OF MAGNESIUM SULFATE FOR ACUTE TOCOLYSIS

At the present, many drugs are used for inhibition of uterine contractions, but the proportions of preterm labors are increasing. Although magnesium sulfate is the most commonly prescribed parenteral tocolytic agent, but its optimal use has yet to be delineated. In this study a high-dose protocol for magnesium sulfate tocolytic therapy was compared with a low-dose regimen. One-hundred patie...

The role of magnesium sulfate in tracheal intubation without muscle relaxation in patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery

BACKGROUND Muscle relaxant agents usually use to facilitate tracheal intubation; however, sometimes limitations exist. Magnesium (Mg) sulfate is a candidate for muscle relaxant substitute. This study was designed to determine the effect of Mg sulfate accompanied with propofol and fentanyl in patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS In a double-blind randomized protocol an...

Effect of Gabapentin on Pressor Response to Laryngoscopy and Tracheal Intubation: A Double Blind Randomized Placebo Controlled Study

The effects of gabapentin on arterial pressure and heart rate were compared at induction of anaesthesia and at tracheal intubation in a prospective randomized double blind study. Fourty patients of American society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I undergoing elective surgery were divided in two groups of twenty each. Twenty patients received oral placebo (Group P), and 20 patients ...
